Meet Dawn

Hello! I am Dawn Tozier, a Mercy in Action certified doula in the Fairbanks, Alaska area. I have enjoyed birth work for 25 years. Much of that time my husband and I were also raising and homeschooling five children. I gave birth to all of my children with wonderful midwives who educated and encouraged me to look with confidence at birth, breastfeeding, and loving children. My own birth team included my loving and supportive husband, doulas, and my midwives. I love to fill the role as doula for families in the hospitals, birth centers, and at home births. In my spare time I love to be with my family, serve in my church, garden, be outside in the sunshine, read books, and sing.
My name is Andrea McEwen, and as a lifelong Alaskan I enjoy all of the typical Alaskan activities like fishing, hiking, hunting, and Nordic skiing. I also enjoy my wood stove, a good book, and quilting when time allows! I have 3 children, all of which were born at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and homeschooled through high school. In January of 2016, I started my journey into the world of birth work, completing a certification course through Childbirth International. I have also completed a Basic Lactation Course, attended a Spinning Babies workshop, participated in a postpartum doula training through the International Placenta and Postpartum Association, and I am currently completing a course with Stillbirthday that focuses on perinatal loss. I believe that families with all of their variety of cultures, beliefs, and parenting methods, are the core of our society. It is my greatest honor to watch a family prepare for and welcome a new life into the world and learn about each other in the process.
